Follow these steps to add ShipGuard: Shipping Protection to your Shopify store.
Go to the Shopify App Store.
Search for ShipGuard: Shipping Protection.
Click Add app.
Log in to your Shopify store (if not already).
Click Install app to begin the installation process.
When you install ShipGuard, Shopify will show a list of permissions. Here’s why we need them:
Customers (name, email, phone, address, geolocation, IP, browser, OS)
→ Required to match claims with the right customer and send claim updates via email or SMS.
Store Owner (name, email, phone, address)
→ Used to verify your account, send app-related notices, and provide support if needed.
View Customers
→ Allows ShipGuard to display claim details and link them with the correct customer.
Edit Products
→ Enables ShipGuard to add protection plans as products and manage exclusions (e.g., digital or non-covered items).
Edit Orders
→ Required to process claims by issuing refunds, creating reorders, and tracking protection purchases.
Edit Your Online Store (Theme)
→ Allows ShipGuard to display the protection widget in your cart and checkout.
View Other Data (Locations)
→ Used for geo-targeting, so protection is only offered in supported regions.
Once you approve the permissions, ShipGuard will be installed. You’ll be redirected to the App Setup Guide inside ShipGuard to finish configuring protection plans and checkout display.
✅ That’s it — ShipGuard is now installed!
