Cart & Mini Cart Widget Setup

The ShipGuard widget can appear in both your cart page and mini cart (cart drawer). This lets customers add shipping protection before checkout, helping you increase coverage and reduce claims.

1. Enable App Embed in Shopify Theme

The widget requires Shopify’s app embed to be active.

 Saving the app embed alone won’t show the widget yet. You’ll need to publish it in the ShipGuard app (next step).

2. Setting up Cart & Mini Cart Widget

Step 2: Shipping Protection Pricing Configure

  1. Percentage Pricing (with min & max values)
  2. Single Fixed Plan
  3. Plan by Cart Value

Step 3:  Customize Shipping Protection Settings & Style

ShipGuard gives you powerful tools to configure how shipping protection works in your store. Beyond pricing, you can control style, visibility, fulfillment, exclusions, targeting, and upsells.

  • Change colors, fonts, labels, and widget type (toggle or checkbox).

  • Match the widget style with your store branding for a seamless checkout experience.

  • Keep the protection product hidden from storefront search, collections, and navigation.

  • Customers will still see and purchase protection at cart or checkout.

  • Prevents inventory and shipping conflicts in Shopify.

Step 4:  Once your pricing and settings are ready, you need to publish the shipping protection widget, Simply click the toggle switch to turn the widget ON.



3. Test the Widget

  1. Add a product to your cart.

  2. Open your mini cart (drawer) β†’ confirm the widget displays.

  3. Go to the full cart page β†’ confirm the widget displays.

  4. Proceed to checkout β†’ ensure ShipGuard protection is carried into the order.

4. If the Widget Does Not Appear

  • Different Shopify themes handle carts differently.

  • If the widget does not show in your mini cart but works in your cart page, this means your drawer app isn’t passing line items correctly.

5. How ShipGuard Protection Works

  • ShipGuard automatically creates a Shipping Protection product in Shopify.

  • When a customer selects protection, it is added to their cart like a digital product.

  • At checkout, the protection item is included with their order.
