If the ShipGuard widget appears in your cart drawer but the protection option does not carry over to checkout, this is usually caused by a cart drawer app or theme conflict.
Third-party cart drawer apps are overriding Shopify’s default cart flow.
Upsell or cross-sell apps that insert additional offers before checkout (blocking line items from being passed).
Custom theme modifications are preventing protection from being carried over.
Cart events are not syncing properly due to JavaScript or app conflicts.
Add a product to your cart.
Open the full cart page (not the cart drawer).
Select ShipGuard protection and go to checkout.
👉 If protection appears at checkout from the cart page but not the drawer, the issue is caused by the cart drawer app.
In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes → Customize.
Select App Embeds in the sidebar.
Ensure ShipGuard: Shipping Protection is toggled ON.
Save and test again.
Some cart drawer apps and upsell/cross-sell apps do not pass line items correctly to Shopify checkout.
In this case, ShipGuard looks “added” but is not carried over.
Try disabling your upsell/cross-sell or cart drawer app temporarily and test again.
Contact our support team — we can review your cart setup and provide adjustments.
Temporarily switch to a Shopify-certified theme (like Dawn).
Add ShipGuard protection and test checkout.
If it works, the issue is specific to your cart drawer or custom theme.

Tip
Even if protection is not carried over from the cart drawer, customers can still add ShipGuard at the checkout page. We recommend fixing the drawer so shoppers see protection earlier in their buying journey.
